Parents have the choice to be part of the board or to participate in a number of committees. Please see below a short description for each committee. They are listed alphabetically. We encourage parents to choose something that they like or are talented at.
Classroom Support: (work directly with the directors in the classroom)
-Activity/Fieldtrip Coordinator: Arranges activities outside the campus, including permission slips, transportation and fees
-Art Display & Organization Coordinator: manages the output of the art projects. -Celebrations Coordinator: manages the special events such as the pumpkin festival and stone soup celebration -Cooking/Nutrition: creates playfull nutritional cooking activities - can work with gardening to include our own crop. -Dramatic Play Theme Changes: circulate dramatic play equipment based on current theme. -Gardening/Composting: manages the garden and composter. Assists in activities concerning tending and harvesting. -Librarian/Book Orders: organizes weekly backpack book bag,manages school library and handles parent and school requests for new books. -Making Learning Visible: covers five areas which interact with one another regarding visual aspects -Photo/Historian Portfolio Coordinator: Records and arranges photos of various events, as well as production of yearly student portfolio -Science and Sensory Activities: creates activities to add to the sensory and scientific experiences of the children |
Program Support: (work with board members & directors outside of the classroom)
-By Laws/Webmaster/Word Processing: manages updates of the website and bylaws, and assists in some outreach paperwork; reports to President and directors
-Community Outreach: activities with community involvement such as Open House, advertisement, networking with other preschool age organizations -East Bay Council Representative: attends the EBC meetings and is a liaison between EBC, CCPPNS and HPNS. This is a Board position -Festival Coordinator: in charge of the Arts and Science Festival; reports to president and directors -Fundraising: helps with fundraising ideas and activities works directly with Vice President of Fundraising -Health & Safety: helps keep track of immunizations and other safety and health aspects; reports to Board member for Maintenance -Hospitality: manages snack sign up for parent education meetings, coordinates meal planning for families with new babies or with emergency situation, writes thank you, get well, sympathy cards as needed; reports to Board member Tuition coordinator -Maintenance Crew: manages bi-annual maintenance days and arranges for daily physical upkeep; reports to Board member for Maintenance -Membership: helps Vice President Membership return phone calls, prepares new member packets, gives tours of classroom, attends preschool fairs, attends open house promoting our school, assists in new parent orientation in March/April; reports to VP of Membership -Newsletter: produces 6 issues for the school year to remind of upcoming events and provide basic reports; reports to directors -Parent Education Coordinator: arranges talks and activities surrounding parent education. This is a board Position -Purchasing/Menu: helps arrange the menu for the school snack while meeting each child's dietary requirements. Maintains supplies; reports to Treasurer -T-shirts: produces the yearly shirt for parents, children, teachers, and alumni; reports to President |
